Nursery Update with American Blinds

Good morning! Today I’m bringing you back to my friend Erika’s house and into the nursery of sweet baby Henry.

Thank you, American Blinds for a room full of shades for this modern, eclectic nursery.

I talked about his room a couple months ago when we wallpapered an accent wall or two. It looked so beautiful but there was one thing that really needed to go. Or seven…

The old window shades above were smoke filled (courtesy of the previous home owner)
and held in by a couple screws and luck. We actually popped them on and
off the rails several times while wallpapering…sometimes on purpose, sometimes not.

Anyway, American Blinds was kind enough to supply us with a room full of roll up shades for sweet baby Henry and his people. They have a great selection and I worked with one of their design consultants to narrow down the tons of choices they have. Erika still wanted the simplicity of roller shades and I knew I wanted something simple with a little texture and in the gray or taupe family. We ended up picking these Bella View Legacy Blackout Roller Shades in color ‘oxford flax’.

First of all, the color. The shades are such a great, warm neutral and match perfectly with the stripes in the narrow hallway next to his bed. If you’re new from the last time I showed you his room, this house is 100 years old and this bright little room was the servants quarters. Crazy, huh?!?

We chose cordless for a cleaner, simpler look. They have corded options that are safer than a loose cord because the cord mounts to the window.

Next, we had a choice between a fabric valance over the top of the roller shades or to leave it a little more modern with the exposed metal at the top. I really love the metal box that hides the shade when it’s not in use.

I like the clean look of it and when the shade is all the way up, even
that white bar at the bottom of the shade, fits right into the top like a
puzzle piece.

They block so much light from this room with 3 walls of windows. And they aren’t like nursery curtains with patterns or colors that you’ll get sick of. As the decor or even the function of the room changes, the shades are neutral and beautiful and will look great in any type of space.

The shades even go up on their own after the first initial pull to get them to open. Not sure if that’s on purpose but it’s nice when you have seven windows to open and a baby in your arms.

Henry loves his shades so much. And me. He loves me.

American Blinds provided us with the roller shades. I was not otherwise compensated and all opinions are my own. I’m so thankful for cool opportunities to provide things like this for my friends.

I know onesies and baby blankets are cute, but a room of shades is a pretty cool gift to get to give.

Welcome to the world, Henry. You are super cute and I hope you take really long naps in your dark, pretty handsome room.
