A Girly Dresser Makeover

Happy Thursday people! Because we talked about chalk paint on Tuesday, I thought I’d show you my most recent project.  A friend hired me to redo a dresser for her daughters’ new room. She had a vision of it already. White dresser with mint green drawers and crystal knobs. Sounds dreamy if you ask me.

This is the dresser they brought me:

That’s a pretty good start. Its hard to see but the bottom has some trim detail and its overall a good and sturdy wood piece.

Because she wanted knobs instead of pulls, I had to fill some of the holes before painting.

I used wood filler. I didn’t need the stainable kind but that’s all my friendly neighborhood store sold.  I filled the holes with with my finger and a putty knife and waited a bit–but not too long because I’m very impatient with stuff like that.

After it dried for a few minutes, I sanded off the extra and then it was ready for paint! (Notice I kept the inside holes on either side, for the crystal knobs later.)

This is the cute pillow I was given, in order to match color. That light sea foam green blue (Next to my sweet ballerinas’ fingers) is the color we’re going for.

That’s all I’ll show you for now. I’ll post the after pictures soon!  Have you chalk painted anything?..Since I last asked you? Do you love a pop of color in a room or are you a stained wood super fan? (It’s ok to be both, that’s me 😉)

Thanks for reading, friends!

  1. I love pops of color! I have a dresser almost exactly like this that I've been wanting to do something with so I'm interested to see the end result. 🙂 Love the blog!
