Thrift Score Thursday

Hi everyone! I’m so happy to be acting as a guest co-host on one of my favorite blog-reading, Instagram-surfing days of the week. THRIFT SCORE THURSDAY! Because let me tell you, besides all of the really important things, finding stuff to love at a bargain price makes me one happy lady. Can I get a witness?!

First let me show you what I managed to score this week!

I found this sweet thing at a garage sale on the street next
to ours. I am a total sucker for caning and faux bamboo so have both and you’ve got
me drooling.

I immediately sent a picture to my mom in case she
wanted to use it somewhere in their new farmhouse. You can see a tour of
their sweet little cottage
here
and some design plans for rooms in their new house
here
and
here.
After
some brainstorming, I decided to paint it and we would use it as a pop of
color in their new master bathroom. They are planning on white tile, white
walls and a warm woodtoned vanity so an antique green to offset the white and wood, will be
dreamy.

I sanded it down, taped off the caning and removed the awesome hardware. I
wanted it to look weathered and dry brushed so I chose 3 different greens to
layer on top of one another. PS green is
my favorite color to decorate with so I have about eleventy different green paint
samples in the garage.  3 were easy to come by.  I just can’t quit it.

With each layer of color, the details in
the legs became more obvious and the hardware works so well with the caning. I just LOVE how it turned out.

Now for the goodies I found on the #thriftscorethursday feed on Instagram.

Look at this lamp from @modbeachhouse. She paid $5 and she’s right when she says she would have paid that for the finial alone. Look at it! Awesome.

This mirror from @design_it_vintage.  Can’t wait to see the rest of the room. Also, I’m jealous because I could really use this mirror in the half bath I’m creating for my parents. Just saying..

Look at this amazing marble table from @dravenmade. $15 at auction! I’m thinking I need to find an auction ASAP.  Glad to be following this great room makeover. Also, is it weird that i want to lay on this table? Yeah? I wouldn’t…

And last but not least, look at these brass finds from @lidijajerant. I feel like Anthropologie might have donated to a thrift store. And all of it for $8. So good. Can’t wait to see where all of this ends up.

How it works:
Every week, the features are picked from the #thriftscorethursday feed on Instagram and the hosts would love to see what you’ve scored!

  5. Hah! Thanks Julie. I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants to lay on tables! 😉 And thanks for reading and for liking my makeover! Have a great day.

  6. The console table you scored is incredible! The color you created is so soothing and pretty. I'm in need of checking out more of that farmhouse since you mention it… <3 Thanks for hosting with us!

  7. Thanks Corinna! I had so much fun. I should say that my version of farmhouse is probably a little different from the actual definition. ; ) We have to put our own spin on things, right?!
