Today is the day!! My six weeks as a guest participant in the One Room Challenge are over. I'm so excited to reveal our new playroom! Thanks for supporting House Homemade.
Isn't it so pretty?! My goal was a more sophisticated spot, a room that could grow with the girlsies, and a place with lots of spots to lounge. Mission accomplished if I do say so myself.

week 6 – Reveal the room! (today)
This is the view you see when you first walk in the room. The gorgeous wall paper is called 'backyard botanicals' and is from Spoonflower. We built the bases of the built ins, added Ikea bookshelves on top and trimmed it all in for day bed/ reading nook/ window seat goodness. A how-to post on this and the rest of the DIY projects will be written eventually. Stick around : )
In the center of the room there's an art table for art-ing and a desk built for "writing"...and whatever else a 4 and a 6 year old might do at a desk as opposed to a table. ; ) PS they really like desks ever since we made mine. The shelf brackets I used are from Crates and Pallet and I'll have a tutorial on this desk wall soon.
The closet got painted the ceiling color (Behr Queens Violet) and got some leftover wall paper on the sides. I reinstalled the shelving and tried to return way fewer things than it housed before.

This corner got the cutest thrifted chair, a plant in a clearance basket and the awesome lights and print. I love how they coordinate so well with each other. The print is so bold and will grow with the girls which makes me happy. The colors couldn't have been more perfect in here.

The paint color on the walls is Behr Melodic White. The only full wall in the whole room got these gorgeous pictures. I'm in love with these photos that I painstakingly got out of my little pumpkins.

I thrifted the big mirror, gave it a coat of paint and nailed it to the wall on a stained piece of wood screwed into the studs. It's a heavy beast and I didn't want to worry about it coming off of the wall. It does a great job of reflecting light and the cuteness of the other walls.

The Hunter ceiling fan from Destination Lighting was the very last thing to go in. It's large and in charge and I love it. I did, however, have to change out the basket pendant light in the window because the one I had before just competed with it a little too much.

The shelves were so fun to stage. I decorated them kind of like you do a Christmas tree with a toddler in the house. The higher stuff is for the grown ups: the hubby's books, pretty plants and breakables.
I used lots of what we already had for the shelves. I thrifted a few baskets and trays to fill them in a little.

make the room look amazing with thrifted finds, etsy goodness and DIY's galore
I'm so happy to finally share it with you and to finally be done! My sweet husband worked so hard on so many parts of the room. Thank you, mister. Thanks mom, for helping me with the wallpaper and for being a caulking queen. Thanks to my friends who have listened to me talk about this room for the last few months... It's done y'all!
A final thank you to the sponsors that made this room happen. Lets be real, if you hadn't helped, the room wouldn't look like this. It would be the close-the-door-and-ignore room it used to be. I'm so grateful to you for giving me a chance!
Make sure and check on other guest participant room reveals here and check out the featured designer rooms here. All of the tutorials and projects for this room will be posted in the near future. I hope you'll come back!

Fabulous job on this room!
