Laundry / pantry progress

Hello! It’s time for week 2 of the New Year, New Room Refresh! In case you didn’t stop by last week, you can read that post here. Today I thought I’d show you some progress pics and tell you a little about what I picked for the space. This post contains affiliate links. ***if you want to skip ahead the reveal is here!**

The design board changed a little bit from last week. First of all I decided on a paint color. That’s mostly what I did this week. I picked Sherwin Williams “Ripe Olive” for the walls. I don’t have my Milton and King ‘olive dapple’ wallpaper yet but I figure the dark shade will work with the wallpaper without worrying about clashing..And they both have OLIVE in the name so what could possibly go wrong?!

My sweet man made sturdy, beautiful shelves that will be installed after the wallpaper goes in. They’re going dark along with the walls. I know light walls make a space seem bigger but this space is small. No matter what color it is, it will not ever appear to be a large room. Might as well make it bold and fun!

I’m still painting the cabinets the pinky coral color, ‘ethereal’ from Velvet Finishes so I’m excited for the contrast that will happen between the dark green walls and the painted cabinets.

I did have a little snafu though. You can see in the very blown out picture below, this is two coats of paint and the sheen is visible causing my strokes to be visible too.

My manager buddy at Sherwin Williams made it right and now it will look great. It’ll just mean another coat for me to do.

I should get the light this week! It’s the Audrey by Mitzi. I love the size and modern looking shape.

I wanted something with a little larger profile so that it can be seen while looking into the room from the kitchen.  (imagine the kitchen with updated lighting too…..someday…)

To give it a little bit more interest and so that I can more the fixture to be centered in the doorway, I ordered this ceiling medallion this week too.

I’ve got art work coming from Art to Frames. I found and bought this print on Etsy and uploaded it directly to Art to Frame’s website, chose a white mat and the modern white frame and they’ll print, frame and mail it to me when it’s ready!

One more thing. I had asked about the grey rug or a colorful rug. I just can’t not use a colorful one. Even with all I’ve got going on in here….Can’t not.

I’m getting this one from Home Dynamix. It’s called Artisan by Nicole Miller. I’ll tell you more about it once I get it. Can’t wait!

Ok, that’s it for now. Bring on the new week! I’ve got a trip to IKEA planned….They have the best prices on stuff for pantry organization. I have to go. Just have to.

Hopefully by next week, we’ll have a pantry again. Fingers crossed.

  1. I love the light fixture you chose, and I definitely think you went the right direction with a colorful rug- it's so you! ๐Ÿ™‚
